Desalux Closes Mill

April 12, 2012

DADIZELE, BE--Desalux, a high end jacquard mill which supplied editeurs and top jobbers
worldwide has filed for bankruptcy.

This company was established by Germaine Desmet and his wife in 1975 and was in its second
generation of management with their children.

Germaine was known for his artistic temperament and beautifully designed, novelty yarn fabrics.
In recent years, the business slowed down a bit along with the rest of the world and costs
skyrocketed to the point where the company could not continue.

Desalux was expected to exhibit at Proposte this year but this will not occur.
A number of high end European mills have failed this year due to the higher costs of doing
business and the lack of adequate sales and profit margins accompanied by huge swings in the
cost of raw materials and the inability to price the products realistically.
