Decosit, DecoContract, Decotec and Indigo Become Decosit Brussels

June 8, 2006

BRUSSELS, Belgium — According to Patrick Geysels, managing director of Textirama, this year, the company set out to streamline their Decosit show, organizing it and integrating the proper areas in order to better present all that Decosit has to offer.

Come September, all Decosit shows—Decosit, DecoContract, Decotec and Indigo will go under the name Decosit Brussels. In addition, all shows will be under one advertising campaign, and visitors will no longer need two separate badges for Decosit and DecoContract.

This will move all DecoContract exhibitors will from Hall 12 to Hall 9. Halls 9, 6, 7 and 11 will all be strictly commercial halls.

"When we started DecoContract five years ago, we thought the two fairs could exist separately from one another," said Geysels.

After their Decosit HK experience, Geysels said they knew it was time to re-organize their activities in Brussels. There no longer a need for the separation as 90% of the visitors of DecoContract are also there for Decosit. Geysels said that Decosit still specializes in upholstery fabric, while DecoContract concentrates on window and wall coverings. Also, a new concept for Decosit, will be the addition of Alice Town to Hall 12.

"Hall 12 becomes our inspiration hall. All the rest are just pure commercial halls," he said.

With Alice Town, organizations will create a "city with streets" where visitors can discover the trends section and hotel projects.

Decotec and Indigo will also be located there, as well as all press stands.

Alice Town was named after this year's trend book, which was inspired by the story of Alice in Wonderland.

The hotel model room section will have the atmosphere of a live hotel with an actual reception desk, in order to make the project more interactive—they wanted to portray it as the business center of the hotel.

"More than 90 percent of last year's exhibitors reapplied," Geysels said. "We know the market is not growing. It's a tough market. So it is very important to us that companies apply again. And it gives confidence to a good project."

This year, he said that Decosit will stay with the number of Chinese companies—the five—that they had last year.

"We're sticking with that number. This is because we wanted to open the trade fair more to the Eastern market, but we realized that listening to our exhibitors that is it better to go not one step further. After 2005, the decision was made to not let that number grow—to stay selective and niche-oriented."

This year's Decosit Brussels will be held from September 9-12.
