Crypton 2.0 Celebrates 20 Years
March 14, 2013
West Bloomfield, MI – Crypton has been awarded a new patent for Crypton 2.0 just in time for the company’s 20th anniversary, according to Randy Rubin, President of Crypton.
During this time, Crypton said it has sold in excess of 100 million yards to healthcare, hospitality, education, government, residential and other global industry segments
“The past 20 years have been a remarkable trajectory for Crypton,” said Rubin. “We came into the marketplace really focused on makingcontract fabrics prettier, more functional and enduring. We knew our clients wanted more from fabrics but there just wasn’t anything that performed-- plasticized fabrics peeled, even vinyl cracked from heavy and abusive wear and none of it was truly aesthetically pleasing,” she said.
“But then we developed Crypton and that truly changed the marketplace and the waydesigners were able to design. We introduced the first anti-microbial, stain resistant, moisture resistant barrier fabric—and it out performed and out lasted all of the previous options. Designers finally had beauty with performance,” she added.
Through technology advancements and changes to Crypton machinery, Crypton 2.0 offers performance characteristics like no other on the market and with a softness and pliability that customers have long been wishing for, the company stated.
With Crypton 2.0, engineers have reportedly invented a method that reduces rigidity and stiffness and increases the loft and maintains the compression recovery of the fabric. Crypton 2.0 also has an improved cleanability standard, the company said. The new barrier of Crypton 2.0 utilizes the same repel and release functionality
but the new 2.0 barrier more easily releases ground-in stains, the company said. Crypton 2.0 includes bio-based materials and is Greenguard
Select certified, the company said. Manufacturing Crypton 2.0 also requires less energy and results in lower greenhouse gas emissions, Rubin said.
“CRYPTON 2.0 is Crypton’s new revolution,” said Rubin. “With Crypton 2.0, you won’t even know that it’s Crypton -- until you need it,” she said.
