Chinese Mills Promote Warp Knitted Upholstery

July 24, 2012

NEW YORK—Chinese upholstery continues to dominate the volume price level of $2-$4 for upholstery.

Chinese warp knits suited for upholstery dominated The Home Textile Sourcing Show presented by Messe Frankfurt at Javits Center July 24.

Zhejiang Province based companies like Haining Chuangxing Warp Knitting Co., Ltd.; Zhejiang Dearlong Textile Co. Ltd. and Zhejiang Huifeng Warp Knitting Co., Ltd. were present at the Fair along with others with $2-$4 ‘sofa’ warp knits.

Some of the companies claimed they were selling U.S. furniture manufacturers directly but were still looking for more business. Seasoned veterans doubt that Chinese companies can successfully sell products directly without a middleman to deal with the customer. Products offered included soft polyester velvets and suede looks in volume price points for entry level upholstery.

The goods offered were plains, embossed plains and action plains with a soft hand in beige and brown colorways.
