WAREGEM, Belgium –Beaulieu International Group (B.I.G.) has named Jean-Baptiste De Ruyck CEO.
Beaulieu’s major business is the manufacturing of vinyl flooring and carpeting. It has several upholstery brands under the name of Tessutica. The brands are Ray Fabrics (previously named Ragolle) and Beaulieu. Some upholstery is produced in Romania as well as in Belgium.
Beaulieu, with sales of $2+ billion, saw sales and profits decline in fiscal year 2023 and hiring De Ruyck is hoped to put Beaulieu on a more positive track in 2025. The annual report cited intense competition from Asia as a major reason for the sales decline.
De Ruyck (45) has an international finance background in the packaging industry and no experience in interior furnishings. De Ruyck takes over from Pol Deturck who left the company at the end of June 2024. His official start date is still to be mutually agreed upon, but in the coming months De Ruyck is expected to gradually settle in at Beaulieu International Group.
He was previously with AbrisoJiffy and is credited with transforming that company from a local business to a Pan European leader in protective packaging and insulation.
Prior to that, he was CEO of food packaging company Omniform. Previously he led a start-up in Latin America. De Ruyck started his career in investment banking in London where he spent more than six years executing M&A and financing transactions across Europe. He holds an MBA from the University of Brussels and a master’s in finance degree from Vlerick Business School.
