Ashley Wilde Wins Over $600,000 in Copyright Damages

March 8, 2004

LONDON - Textile manufacturer Ashley Wilde Group Limited won $600,715 in damages from Turkish textile firms Bahar Dosem and Kocaklar after the London High Court ruled February 16 that they had plagiarized Ashley Wilde designs.

''I am delighted that the investment made in our designs has been protected by the ruling of the High Court,'' Ashley Wilde Chairman Ashley Brodin said. ''This decision will send a message to the industry that we are prepared to fight to protect our design integrity.''

Bahar Dosem had initially been subcontracted to weave product for Ashley Wilde. Bahar Dosem continued manufacturing Ashley Wilde fabrics after its contract expired and marketed them through Kocaklar.
