ADF opens silk mill in China
December 13, 2002
NEW YORK – American Decorative Fabrics has opened a 150,000 square-foot silk mill in Jinjiang City, China, according to David Li, president.
"We have several hundred looms installed at that location." Li said. "We will supply jobbers and furniture manufacturers with lower priced silk fabrics."
The filling and warp is silk on the new fabrics, which feature five designs and 80 SKUs in all.
"We're following up the initial collection with an embroidered version as well as other silk styles. We've had success with more expensive fabrics with the upper end of the market as well as the high-volume furniture producers of High Point and Tupelo, Miss."
Li said ADF has also hired several agents in the U.K., where the company is stocking goods, and several other Euro markets.F&FI
